never at rest, always jumping from one wave to the other.
Living pictures in a lively Internet
.
The internet bears a number of techniques for animation. This page shows only a few examples.
Even more animation is possible with VRML- techniques.
Not all browsers presently support all animation techniques.
So, we have decided to support in these pages only those techniques, which are widely supported by the commonly used internet browsers. However, this does not mean that we are reluctant in accepting new methods; we just like to do the steps to the future on solid grounds. And we like to keep our web site separated from our experimental fields.
Many suppliers of internet pages do not care about effectiveness of data. Thus, many programmers are working with old and weak compression techniques. In consequence, most internet surfers will have left the web site long before the pictures will have built up.
Of course, as new modems allow for ever increased speed of data transfer, our animated pictures will be smoother and more complex. The way, we present the animated pictures here, is a compromise between what we would like to have and whatīs possible with standard techniques.
The pictures in our web site are extremely compressed. Therefore, our pages form much quicker than others with even larger sized pictures. Also, our animated pictures are carefully processed in order to have the amount of data as small as necessary.
The "surfer" in the above animation was taken from a Microsoft- video. Our processing made this animation file smaller by orders of magnitude. This careful processing makes the building up of our web pages rather fast.
If there are any problems with the animations in this page, please send us an E- Mail. We are also grateful fon any suggestion.
